16 Ways to Get Free Money
Want to know where to find free money? Get started with these companies!
1) Get a Free $10 Amazon Gift Card
MyPoints is a great site to earn free gift cards for all kinds of things you already do online. Here, you’ll earn points for watching videos, reading emails, taking surveys, and clicking through their portal to shop at over 1900 retailers. Then, simply redeem your points for gift cards! They’ll even give you a free $10 Amazon.com gift card after making your first purchase through their shopping portal. Claim your $10 Amazon gift card here!
2) Give Your Opinion and Get Paid
One of the easiest ways to get free money is by taking surveys. From politics to your favorite products, the best survey companies will pay for your opinion on a whole range of topics. Some pay in cash while others pay in gift cards. Often, you’ll have your choice of either. It usually works best to join more than one site, so here are a few places to get started:
Opinion City – Sit on your couch and get paid real money for taking surveys about companies like Coca-Cola, Dell, and McDonald’s.
3) Get Refunds on Price Drops Automatically
Don’t you just hate it when you buy something and the price drops the next week? Me too. Did you know that you may be entitled to a partial refund?
Paribus is an awesome free app that can help you get free money by helping you make claims against price drops. Just connect your email address, and the app will automatically scan your email for shopping receipts. If they find a price drop, they’ll notify you and help you file your claim.
Seriously, this is basically free money going right back into your pocket.
4) Score Up to 5% Cash Back (and $200 Bonus)
Sign up for the Chase Freedom Unlimited Card, and you’ll earn a $200 signup bonus after spending only $500 during the first three months you have the card. That’s practically free money, so why not, right?!?
Additionally, you’ll earn an unlimited 5% cash back on travel by using the Chase portal, 3% cash back at restaurants and drugstores, and 1.5% cash back on all your other purchases. You can also take advantage of the introductory 0% APR offer on purchases made for the first 15 months.
Cash back rewards don’t expire as long as your account stays open, there is no annual fee, and you’ll also receive a free credit score that’s updated weekly. And for a limited time, they’re offering 5% cash back at many traditional grocery stores up to $12,000 in your first year (not applicable at Target or Walmart, unfortunately).
Sound good? If you like cash back cards, this could be the one for you!
5) Score a $200 Bonus
Want to earn a nice bonus with an even higher percentage of cash back? This card may be a better fit.
The original Chase Freedom card still has a lot to offer. With this card, you’ll earn 5% cash back on the first $1,500 you spend in promotional categories that rotate each quarter. On everything else, you’ll earn an unlimited 1% cash back. That’s one of the best offers you’ll find, plus it comes with the same nifty $200 signup bonus when you make $500 in purchases within the first 3 months. Like its sister card above, you still get the no annual fee and a free credit score that’s updated weekly.
With the increased cash back on special categories, this is definitely a card to consider. Again, the signup bonus is practically free money which is always hard to pass up!
6) Trim Your Old Bills Automatically
Paying too much for cable? Have unused subscriptions that you’re paying for? Trim can help you with both.
Trim is a nifty free app that helps you analyze your spending and find subscriptions you may have forgotten about. When you find a service you’re no longer using, simply tell Trim to cancel it and they’ll do it for you automatically. They’ll also help you negotiate your cable and internet bills, help you find cheaper car insurance, and more. Heck, it’s practically like finding free money!
7) Grab a Free $10 with Ebates
Ebates is a great website that helps you save money and earn cash back while you shop online. I use it frequently, and I love to watch the money pile up.
To start saving, simply visit Ebates before you shop. There, you’ll find all kinds of deals and coupons to your favorite online stores – including Amazon.com, Macy’s, Kohl’s, and more. Just click through the link to claim the coupon.
In addition to the coupon, you’ll usually be rewarded with cash back too! Use a good cash back credit card to stack your cash back even higher.
Here’s the best part: Get a $10 bonus after opening a free account and spending $25 through their links. Free money has never been so simple. Follow the link above to get started, or read our full Ebates review here.
8) Earn Cash with Vindale (Plus a $2 Signup Bonus)
Vindale Research is one of my favorite survey sites because you get paid in straight cash, not points. Here, you can earn free money by participating in paid surveys, opening emails, watching videos, and more. You can even get paid to send in a photo or video of yourself with your Vindale payment!
On top of that, you’ll earn a $2 signup bonus when you get started here!
9) Get Free Money for Surfing the Web ($5 Bonus)
Swagbucks is another place where you can get free money just for doing the things you normally do online. Plus, you’ll get a $5 bonus just for signing up.
Get paid to search the web, watch videos, and open emails. You’ll earn even more for answering paid surveys, playing games, and more. Plus, it’s hard to go wrong with that $5 bonus!
10) Pocket a $500+ Signup Bonus with This Card
Want to score a huge bonus? The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card can help.
One of the biggest benefits of the Chase Sapphire Preferred is that you’ll earn a 80,000 point signup bonus when you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months after you open your account. Those points are worth $1,000 when spent on travel through the Chase portal, and potentially even more if you transfer them to one of Chase’s 13 travel partners. It’s important to note, that there is a $95 annual fee.
Now, we realize that may be a pretty stiff minimum spending requirement for some people to handle. Still, these are some super valuable points. If you can swing it, this is the first card we would recommend.
11) Earn and Use Points and Miles
We’ve already mentioned some of our favorite credit card bonus offers. However, these aren’t the only benefits that credit cards can provide.
The best credit card rewards programs are a great way to pick up some more free money. While they don’t always provide you with straight cash, points and miles spend like it.
Two of our favorite programs include Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards. The points from these programs can be used to purchase free or reduced airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, and more. You can also use your points to purchase gift cards or shop online. It’s “free money” you can get just for using their cards.
12) Get a $3 Bonus from ShopTracker
Shop until you drop, and get paid in gift cards to do it! With ShopTracker, simply upload their app and start shopping online. They’ll collect data about what you buy, and you’ll earn a few bucks a month for doing it.
The process is pretty simple, and you can earn a $3 virtual Visa reward in just a few minutes! Get started here.
13) Secure a $5 Bonus from InboxDollars
InboxDollars helps you get free money now by taking surveys. Even better, they’ll give you a $5 welcome bonus just for starting.
My favorite thing about InboxDollars is that they pay you cash. They also work with huge brands like Walmart, Netflix, Groupon, and more. According to their site, they’ve paid out over $57 million in rewards so far. That’s a pretty big chunk of change, so why not grab a part of it?
14) Grab a Bank Bonus
Banks are constantly competing for your money. So, it makes sense that they might be inclined to give you a nice bonus of free money to bank with them.
In addition to offering higher rates, one of the best ways banks can compete is to offer a signup bonus for opening a new account. These bonuses can range anywhere from a few bucks to a couple hundred.
Here’s a list of some of our favorite online bank rates this month.
15) Find Free Money from the Government
One of the best ways to get free money is checking with the government.
Here’s the thing: You might be owed thousands in unclaimed insurance benefits, undelivered refunds, and more. Companies and government agencies typically post a public notice in the local newspaper, but – if nobody claims the money – they may be required to turn it over your local government agency handling unclaimed funds.
16) Decluttr Your House
Sick of all those old CDs and DVDs lying around your house? Turn them into free money through Decluttr.
Decluttr buys your old video games, CDs, and DVDs. Just download the app, scan the barcodes on the stuff you want to sell, and they’ll instantly send you a quote for how much they’ll give you. Heck, if you don’t use them anymore you may as well turn them in for free money, right? Get started here.
