Have you ever wished you could earn a little extra money on the side?

If so, you have options. You could get a second job or start side hustle, and either might be worth considering, depending on your situation.

But if you aren’t ready to tackle that, or if you have and still want to ramp things up a little, consider paid surveys.

Yes, getting paid to share your opinion through online surveys is a real thing. Companies all over the world need to learn about consumer preferences, and they’re willing to pay! The best survey sites are legitimate market research platforms that reward users for answering questions about their views, preferences and habits.

Branded Surveys is one of the most well-established paid survey sites around. In this review, I’ll explain how the platform works, how to get paid, and who should try it. Let’s dive in.

What Is Branded Surveys?

Branded Surveys logo

Branded Surveys is one of the world’s leading market research communities. The online platform rewards members with points when they complete surveys. Points are redeemable for cash or gift cards for popular restaurants, retailers and service providers.

Getting started is easy — Just sign up for free and earn a $1 bonus. You’ll answer a few quick questions that help match you with paid survey opportunities. The more details you share, the more matches you’ll get.

Is Branded Surveys Legit?

Branded Surveys is a legitimate platform that really does reward you for your opinion. They work with some of the biggest companies in the world as a market research partner.

What does that mean? Well, companies need information on consumer preferences, opinions and habits to inform product and service development. They hire market research firms to collect that data. Branded Surveys acts as the go-between, paying people to participate in surveys. Results go back to market research firms working for Fortune 500 companies and give them insight into customer preferences.

How to Make Money with Branded Surveys

Take Surveys

Surveys are the bread and butter of the Branded Surveys platform. As soon as you sign up, you’ll see survey opportunities on your dashboard. The first one you take should be the Profile Survey. It’s short and pays five points, and the info you share helps match you with other, more lucrative surveys.

Your dashboard clearly displays the best surveys available for you at any given time, based on your profile. You may also see an offer to participate in premium surveys, which typically pay more. Each survey displays its point value and average completion time, so there are no surprises.

Payment rates vary and may be as high as 300 points. Longer surveys typically pay more,  but not always. When I signed up and tried the platform for a few days, my best offer was 150 points for an eight-minute survey. Each point is worth one cent, so that’s $1.50.

Because there are no daily limits, you can do as many surveys as you like.

Earn Bonus Points with Branded Elite

Serious survey takers earn bonus points by joining the ranks of the Branded Elite. There are three levels to the loyalty program: Bronze, Silver and Gold. At each level, you earn a bonus rate when you complete 12 or more surveys per week. Here’s how it breaks down:

Bronze

  • To qualify, complete two or more surveys per month
  • Earn a 5% bonus when you complete at least 12 surveys a week

Silver

  • To qualify, complete 10 or more surveys per month
  • Earn a 10% bonus when you complete 12 or more surveys per week
  • Earn a 12% bonus on 20+ surveys per week
  • Earn a 14% bonus on 30+ surveys per week

Gold

  • To qualify, complete 25 or more surveys per month
  • Earn a 15% bonus when you complete 12 or more surveys per week
  • Earn a 17% bonus on 20+ surveys per week
  • Earn a 19% bonus on 30+ surveys per week

To summarize, if you consistently do 12 or more surveys per week, you’ll always hit Gold status and earn at least 15% in bonus points. Note that completing a survey means actually finishing it. If you start it and get screened out, it doesn’t count.

Another perk of being at the Silver or Gold level is that payouts are instantly approved, instead of taking the standard two-three business days. And, as a Silver or Gold member, you can earn points for referring friends (more on that directly below).

Refer Friends

Think your friends would like to get paid for their opinion? Silver and Gold members earn 50 points every time they refer an active Silver member. As a reminder, an active Silver member is someone who completes at least 10 surveys per month.

Daily Poll

The daily poll is exactly how it sounds — a single question you can vote on every day. It only pays five points, but it takes all of five seconds.

Getting Paid

Now the fun part! You can cash out once you’ve earned 500 points.

You get 100 points just for signing up and taking the profile survey, so it shouldn’t take long. Those 500 points are worth $5 and are redeemable for a cash deposit to your PayPal account or for popular gift cards (think Amazon, Starbucks, Airbnb and more).

If you’re a US resident, you can also connect your bank account through the Branded Pay system and get a direct deposit. Payment is fast, taking just two-three business days. If you’re feeling generous, you can even redeem points for a charitable donation.

Advantages of Branded Surveys

The main benefit of sharing your opinion through the Branded Surveys platform is getting paid. Obviously. It’s also really easy and flexible. You can do surveys anywhere and any time you have a spare few minutes.

Similar to other survery companies (like Lifepoints), your points are redeemable for cash or gift cards, which is nice and versatile. And with a cash out limit of just 500, getting paid doesn’t take long.

The Branded Elite program is a neat way to supercharge your points. Because membership relies on taking a certain number of surveys, it also encourages consistent engagement with the platform, which in turn leads to more points.

Getting more specific, I like how the platform is laid out. Your dashboard clearly presents your best survey matches, your current point balance, and the number of points you need to cash out. That can be motivating when you’re almost at the 500 mark.

The transparency is great, too. Before you even click on a survey, you know how much it pays and how long it will take. This helps you decide if a survey is worth your time, or even if you want to dive in right now. For example, my dashboard included an 8-minute survey that paid 150 points and a 15-minute survey that paid 68 points. Guess which one I started first?

Disadvantages of Branded Surveys

The thing about market research is that it sometimes targets a very specific consumer profile. For example, a company might be looking for the opinions of mothers aged 25-35 living in Virginia who are familiar with specific brands or products. That means you won’t qualify for every survey.

Sometimes, you’ll be matched to a survey only to get screened out after you begin. This happens when you’re matched based on your profile, but you don’t meet specific screening criteria set by the market research partner. While this can be frustrating, you can minimize it by including lots of info in your profile. When you’re screened out after beginning, you usually earn a few points for your trouble.

In the same vein, market research firms often have specific quotas they need to meet with each survey. Once the quota is met, additional responses cannot be accepted. This means surveys will be available for a limited period of time, and some may fill up within minutes. Sometimes you might start a survey and answer a few demographic questions only to be advised that the survey is full.

Another drawback about Branded Surveys is that it’s hard to rack up points through referrals. First of all, only Silver and Gold members are eligible to earn points on referrals. Secondly, you only earn the 50 points if the friend you refer becomes an active Silver member. That means completing at least 10 surveys during a one-month period. While it isn’t hard to achieve, some people just won’t follow through.

Who Is Branded Surveys Best For?

People Who Enjoy Sharing Their Opinions — Branded Surveys is mainly a survey platform, so if you don’t mind answering questions about your views and preferences, it’s a neat way to earn a little extra cash.

People Who Stick With It — Rewards are more lucrative for Silver and Gold members, but you need to complete 10 or 25 surveys per month, respectively, to get there. Because of this, Branded Surveys works best for people who use it consistently.

Cash Enthusiasts — This sounds silly, because everyone loves cash. But what I mean is that unlike on some platforms, the points you earn through Branded Surveys can be redeemed for a PayPal deposit. If you’re in the US, you can even get a direct deposit to your bank account.

Who Should Avoid Branded Surveys?

People Who Find Surveys Annoying —If you really don’t enjoy taking surveys, there are other ways to earn extra money. Better take a pass on Branded Surveys and find something more up your alley.

Dabblers — As explained above, Branded Surveys is most lucrative for people who become Silver or Gold members by taking at least 10 or 25 surveys per month. If you don’t do this, you can still take surveys and earn points, but you’ll learn less. You also won’t be eligible to refer friends for points.

Those Seeking Big Payouts — Taking surveys for cash is a great way to earn a little extra on the side. It’s easy, doesn’t require a lot of time, and can even be fun. But let’s be clear: you won’t get rich taking surveys. If you’re looking to earn serious income, consider starting a real work-from-home job on the side.

The Verdict: Is Branded Surveys Worth Your Time?

If you’re looking for an easy way to earn a little extra money during your downtime, Branded Surveys is a legitimate market research community that can help you do just that. People who enjoy sharing their opinions and use the platform consistently will enjoy the versatile points and low redemption threshold Branded Surveys offers.
