The Paris Explorer Pass by Go City is a sightseeing card that gives travelers access to some of the top attractions in Paris for a fixed – and super discounted – price.

Like Go City’s New York Explorer Pass and London Explorer Pass, this pass offers access to a set number of attractions. You can choose either a three, four, five, six, or seven attraction pass which is valid for 60 days after you use it for the first time.

Not sure what your trip will bring? No worries, you don’t have to choose your attractions in advance. The Paris Explorer Pass by Go City offers access to more than 45 attractions, and you choose the ones you’d like to visit as you go.

How does it work? After making your purchase, Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass is delivered to your email inbox. Simply print the pass in advance or use the Go City app to use the pass on your smartphone. Then, scan your pass at the gate of your desired attraction and head on in.

When comparing the cost of the pass with the regular admission prices of the included attractions, you can see that Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass could end up saving you a bunch of money, but it totally depends on how you use it.

If you’re only interested in a few of the cheaper attractions, it’s not going to be worth buying the pass. Realistically, though, most people don’t fall into that category.

By visiting Disneyland Paris, especially during high season, you are almost guaranteed to save money by using the pass. But let’s look at some other examples.

At regular pricing, the Eiffel Tower Tour and the Macaron Pastry Class come to €101 on their own. So buying the three choice pass more than covers the cost – which means your third attraction is essentially free.

The five, six, and seven choice passes also offer some great value – especially if you opt to visit Disneyland Paris and some of the other expensive attractions. In fact, you could even get close to hitting the “purse value” on the seven day pass (totaling €415). Even if you did, however, you can still save €146 per adult!

Reasons to Get the Go City: Paris Explorer Pass

Save Money on Sightseeing

The most important reason we buy sightseeing passes is to save money on admission to a city’s top attractions. So if you’re interested in some of the more expensive options included on the Go City: Paris Explorer Pass, you can definitely save some cash.

Disneyland Paris

This is one of the newest additions to the Paris Explorer Pass, and it is a doozey! With a five attraction pass or more, you get a 1-day, 1-park ticket which is valued at up to €105 during the high season. This is a high-dollar option, and choosing it as one of your attractions practically guarantees you’ll save money with the pass.

Eiffel Tower

Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass includes access to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. The tower is iconic, and first-time visitors almost always want to see it (I don’t blame them). Plus, at €46, it’s expensive. So, if you want to see the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, this pass offers a good value.

Walking and Tasting Tours

The Paris Explorer Pass by Go City includes several walking and tasting tours. From a stroll through the Latin Quarter to wine tasting in the Caves du Louvre, there is a tour for everybody!

I love a good walking tour, and several of them give you the chance to explore some of Paris’ most interesting districts. They are also some of the most expensive options on the pass, so choosing these tours is a great way to boost your value.

Hop-On, Hop-Off Big Bus Tour (HOHO)

The 1 Day Big Bus Paris Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour is an awesome way to explore the city and learn about its history. Passengers can hop on or off at any stop along the route, so it’s also a means of getting from place to place. It’s not as efficient as public transit, of course, but it does come with a view and an audio guide, which is pretty neat.

I usually recommend these HOHO tours to people visiting a major city for the first time. As an added note, it’s one of the more expensive options included on the pass, so using it as one of your choices is a smart move.

Check Out Attractions at a Leisurely Pace

If you prefer to keep your schedule somewhat open, you’ll appreciate that the Go City: Paris Explorer Pass is valid for 60 days once activated. Unlike passes that work on a consecutive day basis, there’s no need to rush through your visits. You can feel free to spend most of your day in one place, rather than committing to fitting multiple attractions into each day.

Where the Pass Falls Short

Although the Paris Explorer Pass by Go City has recently added a lot of options, there are still some major omissions. I love that it includes access to the Eiffel Tower and several great walking tours, but I’m disappointed that many of the major museums aren’t included.

Let’s be honest: Museums and architecture are two of Paris’ main draws. So a sightseeing pass that skimps on museums feels a bit lacking.

I get that it’s not meant to replace the Paris Pass. Still, it just feels wrong to talk about the city’s top attractions while leaving out major sites like the Musee d’Orsay, Palais Garnier Opera House, and more.

Additionally, I am not a big fan of adding a purse value to sightseeing passes. The purse value means that, once you hit a certain value of attractions, your pass is no longer valid. This could come into play if you visit the most expensive attractions on the pass, but it likely won’t affect you.

Who Is the Paris Explorer Pass Best For?

• First-Time Visitors – If it’s your first time in Paris, you’ll probably enjoy some of the most expensive options included on Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass. That means you’ll likely get a good value out of this pass.
• Travelers Who Like Flexibility – As I mentioned before, Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass is valid for 60 days, so you can feel free to visit attractions at your own pace. This is great for travelers who don’t like planning out every minute of their day and don’t want the pressure of having to hit multiple attractions each day to get their money’s worth. The pass is also good for those wanting to spend most of a day at a certain attraction.
• Travelers Who Aren’t Into Museums – If you’re not a big museum person, then you probably won’t mind that a lot of Paris’s major museums aren’t included in this pass.

Who Should Skip the Pass?

• Power Sightseers — If you’re heading to Paris on a sightseeing mission and plan to hit up a few attractions every day, then Paris Explorer Pass by Go City might not be for you. You’d get better value from an unlimited consecutive day option like the Paris Pass.
• Museums Buffs — Adore museums? You’ll likely find this pass a bit lacking.While there are some museum options included, a true museum lover is not going to visit Paris without seeing the Orsay, Centre de Pompidou, Palace of Versailles…you get my drift. If you’re interested in museums, you can buy tickets separately, pick up the Paris Museum Pass, or consider the unlimited Paris Pass.
• Travelers Who’ve Been There, Done That — If you’ve been to Paris before, you may not be interested in revisiting the attractions included on Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass. This is especially important if you’re not interested in the more expensive options, since that affects the savings you’d get from the pass.
• Travelers on a Budget — Whether you’re on a very tight budget or just not that into sightseeing, paying for any pass is not a good buy if you’re only interested in free things to do in Paris. Maybe you’d rather spend your money on Parisian food — hey, you do you.

Tips For Getting the Most From the Pass

Visit the Most Expensive Attractions — To get the most from this pass, visit the most expensive attractions. This will ensure you get maximum value from your pass. It pays to crunch the numbers, too. Don’t buy the five-choice pass and use it on the cheapest available attractions. If you do, you’d actually be losing money!

Head to Disneyland Paris  — In the same vein, Disneyland Paris is the most expensive attraction on the pass. If you choose a five choice pass or more, a visit there means you’re almost sure to save money. By not visiting, you could actually lose money.

Book the Eiffel Tower as Early as Possible — The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Paris, meaning it books up weeks to months in advance. To avoid disappointment, I recommend reserving your time slot as soon as you buy your pass. You’ll get the link in an email along with other instructions right after you complete your purchase.

Paris Explorer Pass Review: The Bottom Line

Is the Go City: Paris Explorer Pass the best option for you? Honestly, it depends.

If visiting Paris’ major museums is on your bucket list, then Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass is not going to satisfy you on its own. Consider pairing it with the Paris Museum Pass or getting the Paris Pass instead.

Similarly, if you’re a power sightseer who wants to see as much of Paris as you possibly can, an unlimited consecutive-day option such as the Paris Pass will save you more money.

But if you love keeping your sightseeing schedule open and flexible, a pass offering a set number of attractions  — such as Go City’s Paris Explorer Pass  — can be a great fit. This is especially true if you’re interested in a few of its more expensive options.
