Although there is much to be discovered on the country’s interior, most of Mexico’s major tourist areas lay along its coasts. In the east, the Yucatán Peninsula lays between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The area is home to well-known beach areas like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Mexico’s Riviera Maya. On the west coast, you’ll find more beach areas like Mazatlan and Los Cabos.

🌴🌴🌴 Playa del Carmen – About a 45 minute drive south of Cancun sits the city of Playa del Carmen. Like other places along the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen is known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and all-inclusive resorts. While you’re there, be sure to check out the city’s lively 5th Avenue – a miles long pedestrian area filled with shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.
🌴🌴🌴 Riviera Maya – Riviera Maya is the name given to Mexico’s Caribbean coastline located south of Cancun. Here you’ll find dozens of all-inclusive resorts sitting on beautiful sandy beaches. When compared to many other Caribbean destinations, you can get a ton of value for your money here.
🌴🌴 Cancun – As the main transportation hub for the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun is the gateway to Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Situated on the Caribbean Sea, the city is home to beautiful beaches, delicious food, and exciting nightlife.
🌴🌴 Los Cabos – Los Cabos is located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula along the country’s Pacific coast. The area is known for its stunning coastline, appetizing eats, and vibrant nightlife.
🌴🌴 Mazatlan – Located in Sinaloa on Mexico’s Pacific coast, Mazatlan is home to sandy beaches, beautiful mountains, and a host of marine life. If you enjoy great seafood and shellfish, the city is also known as the “Shrimp Capital of the World.”
