You know what’s better than finding a great deal? Finding a great deal AND getting cash back to buy it!Ā ‘Tis the season for earning loads of rewards, and we’ve got a special hint on the best cash back deal around.
The holiday shopping season is about to kick into overdrive, and I know I’m not the only one who hates braving the cold toĀ stand in line for an hour to buyĀ threeĀ things . That’s why I like to do all of my holiday shopping online. And when you’re shopping online, there is no better place to shop than Amazon.com. Though check out our Rakuten review as well, they are pretty great too!
For reals, you can find anything at Amazon. From electronics to toys, appliances to clothes, you already know that Amazon has it all. In fact, my ex-boss used to order all of our cleaning and restroom supplies from Amazon. And why not? It is cheap, easy to find, and convenient.
With a few exceptions, we’re doingĀ all of our Christmas shopping at Amazon this year. AndĀ if you plan to do anyĀ shopping at Amazon this holiday season, I’ve got a great way for you to make an additional 10% cash back on all of your purchases there. It’s the Chase Freedom card, and here’s how it works.
Get 10% Cash Back at Amazon.com
From now until December 31, 2015, you’ll earn 10% cash back for all purchases at Amazon.com using the Chase Freedom Card. That’s freaking huge! But, that’s not all. You can also earn 10% cash back at Zappos.com, Audible, and Diapers.com, just forĀ usingĀ your Chase Freedom Card.
So, if you plan to spend about $300 at Amazon on Christmas gifts, you’ll get a cool $30 back. Better yet, stack your cash back with even more cash back through one of the best cash back apps like Rakuten! Here’s an example.
Amazon Total: Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā $300.00
Chase Freedom (10%) : Ā $30 cash back (PLUS)
Rakuten (5.5%): Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā $16.50 cash back
Total Cash Back: Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā $46.50 (15.5% Cash Back)
BAM! Savings!
More About the Chase Freedom Card
Sure this 10% cash back deal is great, but the Chase Freedom Card isn’t just good for holiday savings. It’s simply the best cash back card around. The card always offers 5% cash back on rotating categories (for up to $1,500 in purchases) and 1% cash back on everything else. The 5% cash back categories rotate each quarter, so you just have to keep your eye out for the best deals. Typical 5% cash back categories include gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and department stores.
That’s all great, but this might even be better: You can earn a $150 sign up bonus just for spending $500 in 3 months.Ā As far as sign up bonuses go, that’s a very low entry barrier. So, if you’reĀ new to the Chase Freedom card, you could tack on another $150 in “savings” to those Amazon purchases. That’s some serious cash just for doing shopping that you were already going to do anyway!
Additionally, the Chase Freedom Card has no annual fee, so you don’t have to worry about getting stuck with that.Ā You can just open a new account and keep the card in your wallet. I’ve kept mine for years, and I still use it every quarter on the 5% cash back categories.
Here’s a quick recap of the Chase Freedom Card:
- 10% cash back at Amazon.com (through 12/31/15)
- Typically, 5% cash back on rotating categories, 1% on everything else
- $150 sign up bonus for spending $500 in 3 months
- No annual fee
How to Get It
If you want to pursue cash back and rewards, this is definitely one card not to go without. As always, you need to pay off your balance each and every month to make it work. If not, the interest you pay will cancel out any cash back savings and you’ll actually lose money. But, if you want to take advantage of this offer and find several other great cards, click here andĀ head to our “Best Credit Card Rewards Offers” page. Happy holidays!
I saw that promo and was like wow! I just have to make sure I don’t start overspending because of it š
Ha! I’m pretty sure we don’t have to worry too much about you overspending š But it is a great promo, right?!?
Thanks for the heads up! I thought it was just 5%…pretty awesome that it’s 10% now. I use ebates too but didn’t realize their amazon cash back was 5.5%
No problem. The 10% just started Monday and runs through 12/31/15. The 5.5% at Rakuten is most categories, but not all.
I got this notification a couple of days ago from Chase. I’m definitely going to remember it for my holiday purchases! Tim wants a bunch of graphic novels, so this could come in handy.
Heck yeah! 10% is huge, especially around the holidays since you’ll be spending anyway.
if you are on a budget and you are under Chrisatmas, shopping online and cash back is a very good deal for our finances
