I have something to confess.  First off, today’s post isn’t about personal finance. So, if you are looking for solid personal finance advice, today is not the day.  Still here?  Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

I don’t want to brag….but I want everyone to know that I think I have the most amazing husband in the universe.  And since we aren’t spending money on Valentine’s Day gifts for each other, I wanted to give him something that he deserves every day of the year; gratitude.  I truly believe that I have been blessed with the most amazing husband EVER, and I wanted to take a moment to tell everyone why.

5 Reasons Why My Husband Is Awesome

1.  He’s an amazing father.  I swear…this is where I really hit gold.  Seeing my husband with my two daughters truly melts my heart.  He’s gentle and patient with them.  He doesn’t mind playing girly games.  He’s a funny, caring, and kind father who does anything and everything for his two little girls.  He changes diapers.  He makes their meals.  He does whatever it takes to make them feel safe and loved and cared for.

2.  He’s an amazing husband.  This past Sunday, he let me sleep in until 10:00 a.m.  It felt amazing, and when I woke up he had my coffee brewing.  I’m sorry, but that is just plain sexy.  He is always thoughtful and caring.  He’s always willing to help me with the physical things I cannot do because of my back problems.  He always thinks about my feelings.  He is thoughtful, loving, and kind.  In summary, he is better than I could have ever hoped for.

3.  He shares my dreams.  Somewhere along the way, we ended up with the same dreams for our lives – traveling the world, paying for our kids college, becoming completely debt free….These are all things that he wants just as bad as I do.  It is awesome to have dreams and goals in common, and we are both hellbent on achieving them.  I love sharing our bucket list and the fact that we are starting to turn some of our dreams into reality.

4.  He’s amazing with money.  Money isn’t everything, but I do have to give my husband props for working so hard to create a stable environment for our family.  He works 50 hours or more at his regular job a week. Plus, he puts in another 15-25 hours per week freelance writing and on our blog.  He generally finds time to do this by getting up at 5:00 a.m. and staying up late.  A lot of people wouldn’t put that kind of effort into anything, so I am super appreciative of all of his hard work.

5.  He’s intelligent and selfless.  I love having a man who can see things through the eyes of others and not only in his own selfish point of view.  He’s caring, kind, and truly thinks of others and how his actions may impact them.  He spends time reading about the world’s problems and actually caring about them.  I love being married to someone who can think outside of himself and realize that it’s a big world out there.  He knows that he is only a small part of it.

So….are you tired of all of this sappy crap yet?  I truly apologize for the off-topic rant but I just couldn’t help myself.  My husband is amazing, and I hope I embarrassed him a bit.  Happy early Valentine’s Day!

    1. Good, I’m glad to hear it! We’re all lucky!

  1. I just LOVE hearing these kinds of stories – sort of restores my faith in your generation. When you’ve been married for decades and have raised those babies thru adulthood (and thensome) – with all the trials and tribulations that come with that – THEN you’ll be so taken aback by all the love and selflessness that went into it that you’ll realize there really are no words for some things.

    1. Thanks, Jim! We have been married for over 7 years and it has been wonderful. I only wish that it would slow down. The kids are growing up way too fast!

  2. I feel like I’ve won the lottery with my wife. *grin*

    1. Awwww…..that’s sweet. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one out there!

  3. While I don’t love the idea of Valentines Day I am a sap. I also adore my husband. We’ve been together since we were 16 and watching him evolve into the man he is still sort of makes me in awe, watching him as a father amazes me even more. The best part for me is that I know beyond reasonable doubt that he loves me unconditionally and that’s pretty great.

  4. Great post Holly! I definitely married “up” as a good friend of ours likes to say about himself and his wife. She is so selfless and puts everyone & everything (especially for our family) ahead of herself. To say that I am a blessed man does not say enough.

  5. What a wonderful Valentine’s gift to Greg, Holly!!! Best gift ever. I too have a wonderful and caring hubby. It’s a great thing to be blessed with, isn’t it?

    1. She set the bar pretty high here😀 I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep up with this one!

  6. This is so awesome! Congratulations, and thanks for sharing. I, too, am blessed to have the most amazing wife of all (40 years and counting)

  8. I’ve always thought Greg was pretty hot, too. Now it’s verified. I can go back to bed.

  9. Aww this is so sweet! My fiance is also amazing, for a lot of the same reasons you listed. He’s patient, kind, selfless and truly invested in making our relationship the best it can be, I’m so excited to marry him this summer!

I have a truly incredible husband who is also an amazing father. He does everything to make sure I am comfortable, happy and feeling loved every single day. He strives to keep the lines of communication open and he validates me as a person. He works hard and is so good at everything he does. I am extremely proud of him and blessed to share my life with him. Wonderful idea of a post Holly!

  11. What an incredibly sweet and thoughtful gift to your husband! I laughed out loud and agree with the coffee comment, as well – going into the kitchen and seeing my bf put away the dishes is the biggest turn on. Happy V-Day to you both. 🙂

  12. How cute! I am not doing too bad either, the man is building me a house 🙂 and he is super caring and a true gentleman who doesn’t have to think it twice before opening doors or letting you out the elevator first.

  13. My wife is amazing and everyone says so! It is probably why I am still married to her for 44 years.

    1. That is ten years longer than I have been alive!

  14. So sweet Holly! I feel the same way about my husband 🙂

It sounds like you’ve got a great husband… and you’re a great wife for noticing and appreciating all of those attributes!

I agree with what you said about seeing your husband with your two girls. It makes me love my husband even more when I see how he interacts with our little baby girl. 🙂

  16. That is very sweet Holly! Greg is lucky!

My husband & I have known each other for close to 15 yrs now. He has stood by me every single minute of the way, really for better or worse. He has supported me through a lot of crappy situations, my depression, my bad health. He has shown nothing but support & love. I just wish I give him 1/100 of what he has given me so far.

  17. This is the sweetest post I’ve read all week–better than any Valentine’s Day chocolates!

  18. Love this! I think your husband and my husband must be brothers! I couldn’t ask for a better husband or father to our two girls. He is incredibly supportive of my dreams as I am of his. We are stronger as a team and I can’t imagine life without him.

  19. Stories like this are unique and fun to read. My better half is the best as well, and I hope she gets on board with the no V – Day gifts as well this year.

  20. That’s a great gift idea. I think how good a man is as a father says a ton about them as a person. I’m so lucky I found a good husband and father as well.

  21. This is a nice post. It’s always nice to appreciate your spouse, and I think that we all need to do so more often. Hopefully he reads this and sees how appreciative you are of him.

  22. Aww! Happy V-Day Greg and Holly!

Relationships take work. I will admit I sometimes feel shortchanged (I’m currently the one working my ass off to bring in extra $$) but T makes up for it with amazing meals.
